Visit to the Zoo

We visited the zoo yesterday morning and saw all sorts of animals. Cool snakes and lizards, elephants, sea lions, apes. Aden made special friends with an older orangutan named Rudi. The boys had a blast and took a serious nap afterward.

Trick or Treat

I have to say our first Halloween was a sweet success. We took the boys out trick or treating in their little red wagon, dressed on a mission for treats. The first house we went to just had a bowl of candy by the door but it was enough for Aden to discover his first love, KitKat. He had managed to eat most of the bar through the paper by the time we got out of the driveway. Good thing we were not far from the house because I had to send Daddy back for wet wipes. The second house answered the door and we were ready with basket in hand. Aron had been holding on to his KitKat like it was a wad of $100 but soon realized he didn't have to protect his chocolate as he was given a handful of candy. His little eyes lit up and his mouth dropped open like he had just been given a gift from God. From that point on we were on the hunt to fill our bags. By the fourth house we were pushing the door bell and holding out our bag. It was at this house that I opened a Tootsie pop for them and Aden was now in a love triangle with Kat and Tootsie. Who to choose? They sucked on those pops for the rest of the street and Aden had made it down to the chewy center by the time we were home. A bath was required after all the sweet sugar dripped down our hands. Aron was insisting that he continue eating his pop in the tub. We tried to wait it out but he stuck with it until I had to pry it out of his hands. Whoever coined the phrase "its like taking candy from a baby" obviously didn't have kids because Aron put up a good fight. Now as I write enjoying the bounty of chocolate my little skeletons gathered for me, I am listening to them bounce off the rails of their cribs giggling, talking about their score.

Big Weekend Before Halloween

We had a big weekend. Saturday we visited the Pumpkin Patch at the local Methodist church. The boys quickly asserted themselves as the hooligans there to bust up the joint, wearing their skeleton costumes and tossing every little pumpkin they could get their hands on.



















Sunday we visited Old MacDonald's Farm in Humble. Grandad came with us; he told everyone a story about how he had brought Mommy here 30 years ago and the place had barely changed. We got to pet and observe lots of different farm animals. The big event of the day was taking our first horsey rides. Both boys thought it was really neat, grinning ear to ear in the saddle. To end the day, the boys each got to choose their very own pumpkin to take home for Halloween.

Music and Dancing

We're loving Lady GaGa. The boys clap and clap and clap. Red lights are no longer a reason to fuss as long as we have some GaGa playing. We especially like "'Just Dance". In addition to Lady GaGa, we discovered by accident that they seem to really enjoy any Tejano music that has a good beat. It's probably the accordion, can't get enough accordion. Aron has a new dance move we call "the raptor", where he leans forward and stretches his arms backward as far as he can muster. We also have a yet to be named one legged hop dance move. Aden is picking up the nice moves as well from his brother. Between the two boys and Daddy, there is no shortage of smooth moves in our house.

The Great Cornholio

We had the boys in their cribs to cool-down before bedtime....the usual baby jabber, and then hysterical laughter emanated from the room. We peeked in and found this...













Aden thought it was absolutely hilarious. Beavis and Butthead would be proud...

Children's Museum

We had a blast at the Children's Museum. So much to do. We tore around the toddler area, and then played with the big kid stuff. Granddad came to help Mommy and Daddy chub-wrangle. A great place, it will likely be a favorite destination for many years to come.

Summer Fun

We have been so busy this summer visiting many different parks. Early this month we went to a local park to feed the wildlife. Mommy thought this was a good idea since the boys are into throwing food, but of course they wanted nothing to do with the birds and ate the bread. In later weeks we went to Armand Bayou in search of more wildlife but only found mosquitoes. It was a short trip. Today we went to Moody Gardens Beach with our twin club friends. The boys are so interested in swimming. We spent hours in the lagoon practicing freestyle and putting our face in the water. This play date was one of mommy's best ideas, even daddy had fun. We are going to have to start looking into swim lessons for our little fish.
The boys have almost completed their first month in the toddler class. They seem to have adapted well and take a liking to the extra snacks the school provides. The boys have a curriculum of swim time, outdoor play, art time and of course nap time. They come home exhausted and ready for bed. Both boys have started communicating better. Although they often don't know the word they can point to their want. Aron is the master at saying bye-bye and blowing kisses. His newest word is puppy. Aden has fewer words but jabbers in sentences. He knows how to show you what he wants and is so definite in his commands. Both boys are expert walkers but would rather climb. They can now reach into drawers and on to counters which keeps us on our toes because more than once one of them has been caught wielding a knife from off the counter.
