Full Moon

Aron will likely be mortified that I posted this so I will have to take it down before he can read butt this is too cute a story to not share.

In throws of potty training Aron has made strides in progress to big boy underwear full time. Yesterday he tells me that he is going to be a good boy and not get Woody dirty (the character on his underwear) by going to the potty. He did great all day even to trips to the store and at nap time. In the evening as we were getting ready for bed Aron refuses to take off the underwear and put on the diaper. Choosing our battles we allow the underwear and prepare ourselves for a midnight sheet changing, so when we woke up the next morning we were shocked that we did not get the call. We stroll over to their room discussing how big Aron is and when we open the door we are presented with the above. Aron kept his promise to not get Woody dirty and some time in the night took off his pants and underwear but managed to soak everything else. 

Sugar Octane

It was another successful Halloween. This year's costume was creatively done by Meme and Pap as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss. Meme made them blue hair out of feather boas which looked like a cross between Homey the Clown and Don King. While trick-o-treating the boys had their routine of go to a house, immediately eat the candy given, go to the next house. We made a block utilizing this system before meeting up with Meme and Pap on their street for snacks and candy in the park. The boys burned off their sugar by challenging Buzz Lightyear to a glow stick duel. It was an epic battle until Buzz had to go home and Aden took the rest of the glow sticks for himself.

Will it ever rain?

Going into the umpteenth week of no rain and 100 degrees we have spent the month of August indoors exploring all the museums. We usually recruit Grandad for the trip since he is usually a sucker for pushing around the stroller. We have been to the Children's museum where we like to do crafts such as paint and build paper flying things. This week we went to the Butterfly Museum and discovered that 2,000 butterflies is kinda scary so we ditched that early and headed over to the zoo. There we fed giraffes and watched the new baby elephants take a mud bath.
On August 29th we started our first day of pre-K. We decided to split the boys up and give them a chance to learn independently. Aron is with the 3-year olds and is being challenged with the more advanced group. Aden is now the oldest in his class and is ruling the roost. He is showing the most improvement with the separation. I never realized how much he let Aron talk for him. His teacher actually asked us if he was the talkative one. Well, he is now.

Black and Yellow

So its only mid-July and we have finally finished moving into the new house and to celebrate we decided to have all our friends over for the boys 2-1/2 birthday and house warming party. How did we come to have black and yellow party you ask? It was the boys idea. When I asked them what kind of party they wanted Aden said Yellow and Aron said Black! It was original and black/yellow party was all they asked about until the day came and by then they didn't believe me that is was happening. One Saturday I was feeling ambitious and decided to take the boys shopping for party supplies. I must admit during my planning I had a major lapse in parenting judgement as I though it would be fun to go for doughnuts before the trip. The boys love doughnut holes! They put away a dozen each and half a chocolate with sprinkles. Then after filling them up with sugar we went to the party store. Each in their own basket the sugar took affect simultaneously and the two of them were maniacs and I had no escape because each aisle was more exciting than the next. I should have known better. We did score a lot of good decorations and gift bags goodies but we all needed a nap after.
July 23rd was the big day. We had a rented a bounce house with dual racing water slides.  The boys were taking a nap when it arrived and when they woke they saw their whole backyard taken over by the coolest inflatable monster. For hours they played until they could barely stand. It was huge success.
Change of subject.
The boys are quite the chatter boxes. Aron woke up the other night at 4:00am and downloaded all the information in his head for an hour talking to me as I was trying to sleep. He is also top of his class in reading and has memorized several books. Aron also has been using the potty regularly and will be going to class for the first time in underwear on Monday. Aden is also talking and reading and is all about trucks. Every morning and after school we have to drive past a construction site so he can see bulldozers and backhoes. He only reads truck books and must wear one article of clothing with a vehicle everyday. Both boys are big into dressing themselves and picking out their own clothes. The can almost get completely dress alone accept tying their shoes. Both boys are doing really good growing although they are still hanging in the 10 percentile. Aron is slightly taller than Aden but they weigh the same. Both boys are healthy and happy and we couldn't ask for more.

My apologies for the delay in new posts but we have been very busy moving into our new house. The boys are very excited about their new 'crib'. They have plenty of room to run laps in the house, spend more time outside under the covered patio and the biggest draw, the stairs which they will tell you go "up and down." Talking is very prolific these days. The boys are not shy in telling it like it is. Alex is teaching them the important words like Darth Vader is trouble and Death Star is bad. Aden is big into jumping instead of walking. His favorite color is yellow and has recently been gifted a pair of yellow shoes that he wears religiously. Aron is our little linguist and is putting together short sentences or should I say commands like, "Mommy I need more milk or Aden go away." He is also composing songs with daddy's guitar. Both boys are singing and have almost all the words to Happy Birthday. See links to the videos.

Sugar me Sweet

Party, party, party. That was the theme of the weekend and we haven't actually made it to Easter Sunday. The boys have been on a sugar high since Friday and have learned the ways of the candy filled egg. Friday they came home with a bag full of unopened eggs, what would it hurt to open a few? I should have known better. It has been "yummy this" and "yummy that" and everywhere we go the lure of the pastel egg brings us to fits. This morning we went to the church to participate in the egg-stravaganza. The boys cashed in on a basket full of eggs. After powering down a few Smarties and Tootsie rolls we headed over for a ride on the train. Then we went home to rest up for Charlie's 2nd birthday party. Once home I told them it was nap time and they both went straight to bed and shut the door behind them. I went to Alex telling him I had witnessed an Easter miracle. Later I was in the computer room and I started hearing soft giggling. It wasn't the usually trying not to sleep laughter so I decided to see what was so funny. The two of them were huddled in the corner of their room, behind a chair, sharing a contraband package of Smarties that they had snuck past Mommy. They had made it almost through the package and then started shoveling faster as I got closer. All I pulled away was a wrapper. After our nap we headed to Charlie's where we had more treats and cake which helped us maintained our stamina for riding the roller coaster for two hours. When we came home we found Oma had sent us an Easter basket filled with more goodies. We enjoyed some of Mommy's favorite candy to top off the evening. It was a good hour of sugar burn before we were ready for bed but once we heard the Easter bunny was coming in the morning we went right to bed with thoughts of jelly beans dancing in our heads.

Potty Time

To our surprise the boys have taken it upon themselves to start potty training. It has been a messy journey and we have confirmed that installing the hard floors was a smart idea. The boys are working with their teacher at school and it is battle of the sexes of who will be the first into underwear. We are prepared with their new favorite super hero Spiderman undies when they are ready to say audios to diapers.
